Designated as West Cork's Heritage Town by Bord Failte, Clonakilty is the fastest growing town in County Cork, with a population of over 3,500 people. It is a picturesque seaside town approx 45 mins drive from Cork city.
West Cork is a region blessed with some of Ireland's most spectacular scenery and Clonakilty is an ideal base from which to tour that corner of the county.
Attractive traditional shop fronts and hand painted signs in English and Irish grace the narrow streets and lanes in Clonakilty. Many tourists come to the town each year to savour the town's rich heritage, evident in buildings such as the Post Office, located in the old Presbyterian church, and the Town Library which is in a converted Corn Mill with the river flowing beneath.
Visitors to Clonakilty will find attractions such as the many beaches nearby, walks in the local countryside, traditional pubs, or visiting local sights such as The West Cork Model Railway Village and Lios-na-gCon Ringfort.
