Blarney

county corkThe village of Blarney is a major tourist attraction in County Cork. Located 8km north-west of Cork, Blarney is best known for its castle and its stone, which attracts many visitors from all over the world each year.

Built in 1446, Blarney Castle is one of oldest and most historical in Ireland. Its walls are more than 5 metres thick in some places, which made it an invincible fortress. Legend has it that after kissing the Blarney stone you will never again be lost for words!

The 'Blarney Woollen Mills' is a major attraction and its famed shopping centre is visited by people of all nationalities, in search of traditional Irish crafts, books and souvenirs.
