The coastal village of Liscannor, in County Clare, is located on Liscannor Bay, on the R478 road between Lahinch and Doolin.
The village, approx 3 miles from the world famous Cliffs of Moher, is also only a short drive from the Burren and a few minutes drive from Ennistymon, Lahinch and Doolin.
John Philip Holland, inventor of the modern submarine, was born on 24 February 1841 in Liscannor, County Clare. A headstone commemorating his career, presented to the town by the U.S. Navy, can be viewed at Liscannor harbour.
